Privacy Policy
Effective October 9, 2026
PhotoCatalog (“the app”) is developed by euynus. This policy covers both the GitHub edition and the Mac App Store edition. The app collects, stores and sells no personal data: there is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
Data on your Mac
Your catalog (photo metadata, ratings, keywords, develop settings and face recognition data), previews and caches are kept only on your Mac, in places you choose or in the app's own folders. Backups go where you choose. Face recognition, AI masks, denoise, super resolution and AI remove run on your Mac with models built into the app. The developer has no access to any of this.
When the app goes online
The app connects to the internet only for the following:
- The AI assistant (optional). Data is sent only after you set up a service in Settings → AI and use one of its features, and it goes straight to the provider you configured, never to the developer:
- Describe photos: JPEG previews reduced to 1024 pixels, plus the capture date, camera, location and existing keywords if you include them for that batch. You confirm before anything is sent.
- Find with a sentence: the sentence you type, and the names of the cameras, lenses and keywords in your catalog.
- AI develop: your description and the photo's current develop settings, and a reduced preview if the model reads images. The app asks before it first sends a photo to a service off your Mac.
- Maps. The Places view and the location picker load maps and search places through Apple's MapKit; Apple handles those requests under its privacy policy.
- Update checks (GitHub edition only). At most once a day after launch (you can turn this off in Settings → General), or when you choose Check for Updates…, the app asks GitHub's public API for the latest release, and downloads updates from GitHub. The request carries nothing about your photos or catalog; GitHub handles it under its privacy statement. The Mac App Store edition doesn't check for updates; the App Store does.
Crash reports
When the app crashes, macOS saves a report on your Mac. The GitHub edition only offers to show it to you in Finder at the next launch and never uploads it. If you've chosen in macOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide crash reports of the Mac App Store edition to the developer under its policies.
This website
This website (photocatalog.gooday.dev) is hosted by Cloudflare and uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It sets no cookies and doesn't identify or follow individual visitors: Cloudflare receives each page view's address, the referring page, the browser and the visitor's country, and reports them only in aggregate. This applies to the website alone; the app contains no analytics.
